Giving out your email address~Be careful

It is never a good idea to give out ones personal email address unless you know the person well that you are giving it to. When doing so, you could subject yourself to a great deal of spam and scam from people you have given your email out to. Not only that, but you could also be subject to phishing, hoaxes, viruses, account high jacking. Hundreds of cases are on the Internet where people gave out their private email to people they did not know and all of a sudden accounts they held, such as with banks, paypal, etc. were broken into. So take precautionary measures when giving out your email and other personal information.
There was a case here on RFN where a member sent out dozens upon dozens of private messages to other members, stating it was for special friends only. And gave their email out and asked for the members email as well. Some of the people who received this message, were new members, and probably thought it was OK to give out their email address to this member.
This ploy was used to only get the members private email address so that they could invite them to another site. They had no intentions of being their friends, but wanted their emails for referral purposes. Thankfully this was caught before other members received the messages and gave out their email address as well. Due to the process of the spam method, the member was banned.
Anyway, this can happen anywhere, and for your own safety, it is never a good idea to give out your personal email address to someone you do not know.
