A Walk to the River
(in tribute to beginings)
revised 21 Aug. 2008)
i walked to the river
the waters were falling
the ocean was stayed
the mountains were calling
i'll not SAY i love you
i'll BE love instead
i'll ask of you nothing
but that we be wed
my windows are shaking
they're smiling and pointing
a stone path compels me
to old lover's glenn
where, cold is chastised
and trees never bare
the willow's my blanket
i've nothing to care
i've come with no braces
i'm not here to scorn
i think naught but love you
of that i am sworn
i'm back at the river
the waters are rising
the ocean's applauding
the mountains are calling
Neptune is quiet and
Zephyrs are sleeping
my windows are resting
anger is weeping
song birds are waiting
the river is blue
a chalice afore me
i'm waiting for you
the doe drink the water
the grasses are long
i dream while i'm sitting
i wait for your song
the river is moving
in slow rippled waves
a ship is appearing
upon which you play
alight from your transport
your harp now a sword
rests on my shoulder
i fear love no more
my shield is arrested
all battles are done
Ersarthyl's upon me
me and my one
though war may still call me
i'll not take up arms
i'll rest with my beauty
and bathe in her charms
the river is singing
the ocean's now blue
the mountains are whispering
"Mars is quite through"
